Gardens...art...and a lovely day out...all for charity.
The Didsbury Open Gardens event will take place on Sunday, 12 June, 2016, and gardens will open their gates between 11.30am and 5.30pm to visitors. This year promises to be another lovely event with gardens old and new and hosts sharing their beautiful planting schemes and lots more with the public.
The event has become a mainstay in the Didsbury and South Manchester Calendar and has been going since 2008, raising over £50,000 for charities.
We will be supporting St Annes Hospice as our main charity this year. And in addition to the numerous other charities that benefit from sales of tea and cakes, pottery and plants, we will also be donating to the new Maggie's Centre which opens at The Christie in April. The Centre will open it's garden for the event, designed by the well known designer, Dan Pearson.
As a special treat, many of the gardens will have works of art on display, including sculpture, paintings, crafts, pottery and much more. Expect other surprises as you stroll around Didsbury meeting up with old friends and chatting to the garden hosts. All details are in the programme, which also serves as the entry ticket to all of the gardens.
Programmes at £5 each (admit one adult) go on sale at the start of May from The Cheese Hamlet in the village and from the Fusion Deli on Lapwing Lane. We can also send programmes in the post if you send a stamped, addressed, A5 envelope to Didsbury Open Gardens, c/o 11 Lancaster Rd, Didsbury, Manchester, M20 2QU. Cheques should be payable to Didsbury Open Gardens.
Join us on Sunday, 12 June, for a very special day out.
